| Inglis Trail is
a long easy loop walk, basically from one end of Gibsons
to the other end of the community. Some of the highlights of the
trail are the views of Mount
Elphinstone from the Ocean Mount area, Mariner's Lookout Park
and Holland Park.
The Inglis Trail was name after Dr. Fred Inglis,
who from 1913 to 1943 maintained the only available medical outlet
from the lower floor of his home, the Inglis House also known
as Stonehurst. He would travel up and down the shoreline of the
entire Sunshine Coast treating the coastal population, village
by village, outpost by outpost. His mode of travel, was by row
boat and horse, and later came the Model T Ford for when the roads
were built later in his life.
Access to Inglis Trail: Located in Gibsons.
The best access is at the traffic lights at Sunnycrest Mall. There
are many access points along the street roads on this route. At
the mall turn down Shaw Road. Follow Shaw to the end and to the
sign for Dr. Fred Inglis. |
