| Sprockids Mountain Bike
Park is located near the Langdale
ferry and the community of Gibsons on the lower Sunshine Coast.
The mountain bike park is a network of trails designed for all
skill levels of mountain bikers.
The Sprockids Park covers over 14 km of trails (8.4 Mi.) with
roots, jumps, ramps, teeter-bars and downhill. Mountain biking
is a very popular activity on the Sunshine Coast, hence the demand
for the technical park, which was developed by local volunteers.
Since its inception the mountain bike park has
given life to some local mountain bike clubs like Sprockids
Rockets and has become part of the B.C. School Age Mountain
Bike Series. Most Sprockids Mountain Bike Park
biking routes loop back to the centre of the park so riders can
explore many of the trails.
It is said one of the more popular biking routes is a 3 km loop
trail with some steep climbs building up speed to go downhill
into a technical section along a creek bed back to the park.
There are also some main mountain biking circle routes located
throughout the Gibsons and Roberts Creek area on the lower Sunshine
Coast that are not in the Sprockids Mountain Bike Park
like the 30 km Roberts
Creek Trail (18.5 mi.), 12 km Clack
Creek Trail (7.5 mi.), and the 7.5 km Brodie
Trails (4.5 mi.) all accessed from Roberts Creek Forest Road just
east of Roberts Creek Provincial Park.
Access to Sprockids Mountain Bike Park: Located
on the Sunshine Coast, near upper Gibsons accessed by Stewart
Road. Turn left up the dirt road which leads to the entrance of
the park. Park at gate if closed. |
