This Sunshine Coast Park, Tuwanek Point Beach Trail is a short
trail covering over 2 km ( 1.2 mi.). The trail is rough and can
be muddy and slippery at times. The trial route leads to Irvine
Creek and then to views of the ocean coastline.
The trail should take about 2 hours to complete. The Tuwanek
Point Beach Trail does have beach access entry points
along the beach at the end of the Sechelt Inlet Road. The scuba
divers usually are out and also they usually are marking the trailhead.
So look for the frog ones.
Access to Tuwanek Point Park: Follow Hwy 101
in Sechelt
to the traffic light at Wharf Street and take a right. A couple
blocks down take another right on to Porpoise Bay Road which turns
into Sechelt Inlet Road. Continue for 4 km (2.5 mi.) and follow
the signs to the Porpoise
Bay Park. Continue driving past the park to Tuwanek at the
end of Sechelt Inlet Road then turn right on to Upland Road. Continue
to the stop sign and turn right again on to the gravel road. Look
for the gravel pit on the left and the rough trailhead should
appear.
