Sunshine Coast Sport Fishing
British columbia, Canada

History indicates fishing the Sunshine Coast, at one time, was a means of survival, a food source, for many in the area, including the First Nation people and the early European pioneers. Today, fishing is one of the most popular recreational past times of the area.

Today fishing is a commercial and recreational activity. The area is fortunate to have a good selection of marine service shops, tackle stores and marinas. The coastline is well mapped with many marinas located along the popular marine routes throughout the Sunshine Coast supplying today's captains and deckhands moorage, showers, fuel, warm coffee, fishing supplies, food and entertainment.

Most arrive on the Sunshine Coast looking to catch some Chum, Coho or Spring Salmon, rock cod and ling cod. Most try their luck from well equipped pleasure fishing boats while others try from the many wharves in the area.

The fresh water fishing crowd enjoy casting a line at the many lakes and rivers in the area looking to hook onto a Cutthroat or Rainbow Trout.

Remember fishing in BC takes a valid licence. They are mostly available at the marinas and tackle shops.

Fishing Charter guides are listed under each community area on this website under the activities section.
