Texada Island, BC, Canada is best accessed by vehicles and foot passengers using the BC Ferry service departing from Powell River on the Sunshine Coast to the BC Ferry termional at Blubber Bay on Texada Island. Texada Island paved roads and dirt roads are located on the northern part of the island only. From Comox on Vancouver Island: The BC Ferry on Vancouver Island, in the Comox Valley is the closest access point to Texada Island. Board the Little River BC Ferry Terminal in Comox to Powell River on the Sunshine Coast. Then board a second BC Ferry from Powell River to Blubber Bay on Texada Island. From the Vancouver mainland: Texada Island from the city of Vancouver on the mainland requires boarding a BC Ferry from Horseshoe Bay (Vancouver mainland) to Langdale (Sunshine Coast) docking closest to the community of Gibsons. From there, travel Highway 101 past Sechelt, BC to the Earl's Cove BC Ferry Terminal. Another 50 minute BC Ferry ride takes you from the cove to Saltery Bay. Follow along Hwy 101 from Saltery Bay to Powell River for 32 km (19 mi.). From Powell River take a BC Ferry ride to Blubber Bay on Texada Island. |
